Thought I’d share a frustrating experience so maybe someone else doesn’t get caught the same way. Bought what I thought was a “premium” battery about 20 months ago for my Mazda CX-9. It came with a 3 year warranty which made me feel good about spending a bit extra. Fast forward to last week when the car wouldn’t start. Took it back to the shop with my receipt and they tested it – confirmed the battery was dead. Then they told me the warranty is pro-rated after the first year, meaning I only got maybe 30% off a replacement instead of a free one. Nowhere on the receipt or on the sign in the shop did it clearly say that. When I complained, the guy pointed to some tiny text on the back of the warranty card that I’d never even looked at. I was pretty annoyed. While searching for a better replacement, I came across a site that actually explains warranty terms clearly – you can Learn More about what to look for before buying. Anyway, just a reminder to always ask if the warranty is full replacement or pro-rated, and get it in writing. Don’t be like me and assume. Anyone else had this happen?
