Express Eventing (2009)

Express Eventing

The inaugural Express Eventing International Cup took place at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, in November 2008, and saw 19 of the world’s top event riders compete for the £100, 000 top prize. All three sections of the competition took place in the stadium, making this competition a spectacle to watch for the audience, and an equally exciting ride for the competitors. For the first time, the competitors had to ride their dressage tests to music. Lucy Wiergersma, who took second place in the final results said, “Working for the music test helped our dressage massively”. Many riders failed to complete all 3 phases of the competition; especially the show jumping and cross country phases. Oliver Townsend took first place with a fantastic performance on his superb grey, Flint Curtis and William Fox-Pitt took third place with his ride, Ballincoola. Two time Olympic event rider, Mark Todd commented, “The concept is brilliant and it’s a lot of fun”. This DVD shows the comprehensive highlights as seen on Sky Sports Television and is presented by Alice Plunkett with top class commentary.
