Introduction

Hey all,

My name is Andrew Portch, I am currently in Australia finishing my studies to become a Certified Equine Dentist. I will be commencing practice on the 22nd of September 2009.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have pertaining to equine dentistry and/or your horse/s personally.

My services include but are not limited to basic routine treatment, complex procedures and treatments such as major extractions or corrective filing, management of periodontal diseases and infections, bitting advice, feeding advice, appropriate after-care and management and much more.

My email address is portchdentistry©yahoo.com

I will be practicing predominantly in JHB and surrounding areas, however I am more than happy to travel to other regions of the province and country in order to treat your horses, please note that there may be a travel charge, this is however circumstance dependent.

As for power tools, I do not use them! I am not 100 percent against powertools, but I am against a whole list of issues that pertain to powertools in their current form, please feel free to contact me on this topic for further discussion.

Sedation, I will not have a horse sedated unnecessarily, and it is not a routine practice of mine to work on sedated horses, nor will I sedate horses myself as that is by law the domain of the veterinary surgeon, and NO dental professional who is not a vet may sedate a horse himself/herself.
On the other hand, do not expect me to put your horse's welfare and my own
welfare at risk or compromise the quality of my work by not having a horse
sedated in a situation where I feel that it is necessary.

Once again I encourage you to contact me via email with any questions you have.

Kind Regards

Andrew Portch
