TELLINGTON TOUCH TEAM WORK

T. T. E. A. M. - TELLINGTON TOUCH EQUINE AWARENESS METHOD

What is TTEAM ?
TTEAM is a holistic way of training, healing and overcoming common resistances in horses.
TTEAM emphasises the partnership between horse and rider.
It utilises TTouch, Learning Exercises from the Ground and Riding with Awareness.
TTEAM offers new solutions to common behavioural and physical problems, helping to improve balance, co-ordination, freedom of movement, overall performance, obedience, focus, confidence, self control and health.
TTEAM is based on the premise that most resistance comes from tension, lack of balance or discomfort in the horse’s body or a simple lack of understanding on the horse’s part.

CAN ANYBODY DO THIS ?
Yes – you can learn enough on a weekend workshop with a qualified practitioner to make good use of the methods at home. There are also books and videos to help. Basic common sense and mutual respect between horse and handler go a long way. If you want to go further with these methods training courses are available

The next workshop will be held in LAEZONIA on the 7th MARCH 2010. Cost: R 350.00, excl. lunch, please contact Elke on 084 593 1938 or position©mailbox.co.za if you are interested in attending.

HISTORY
In 1978 after attending a 4 year mind-body integration course with Moshe Feldenkrais – Linda Tellington Jones decided to apply the techniques she had learnt on horses.
She found that by doing small non habitual movements with no fear or pain and no fear of pain – she could help horses (later all animals) to become aware of their bodies and thus be able to change habitual patterns which may not be so useful. Later adding the TTOUCH (circular touches, lifts and slides) helped to stimulate the nervous system and so work at a cellular level to change habitual patterns. Using TTOUCH is very therapeutic, both for the donor as well as the recipient. It helps to establish a bond while simultaneously helping the body with healing and awareness.
So much in life is about balance. Physical, mental and emotional balance are all linked. We find that if we are physically out of balance – we are often out of sorts emotionally. Similar things happen with horses. The joy of TTEAM work is that often by helping the horse to become physically balanced we get behavioural improvements simultaneously. When we do groundwork we really concentrate on being slow (to encourage awareness) and as clear as we can be. Using all the tools that we can think of to help, we will ask our horses to do simple exercises, so that they can become aware of their bodies and discover alternative ways of moving - which all work towards improving physical balance. The key to all our work is setting the horse (and human) up for success. If something is too difficult for a horse, instead of repeatedly asking, we break it down (chunking) into smaller, more manageable steps.
