Milyn Brazier invites you to come and chat with her online, and ask everything you always wanted to know about equine physiotherapy! ---------------------------- THE PHYSIOTHERAPIST ---------------------------- Milyn studied BSc Physiotherapy at Stellenbosch University for four years and then did her community service in Matatiele, KwaZulu Natal 40kms from Lesotho where she had the gift of blessing the community with the knowledge and abilities of physiotherapy. In 2004 she moved to Johannesburg where she worked in private practice and did extensive hospital physiotherapy for a year. Milyn has had a love for horses since she was born. She considers horses soulful creatures and feels that our lives are blessed by their presence. In 2005 she began practising on horses and riders, all the while studying further in the industry. Milyn was invited to the World Equestrian Games in 2006 in Aachen where she accompanied the South African Endurance team as team physiotherapist treating riders and horses and in 2008 she was invited as team physiotherapist again for the Springbuck team travelling to Malaysia for the World Endurance Championships. Milyn has taken a number of postgraduate courses such as: Dry needling techniques Body alignment techniques Amazing nervous system-Duffy Sweatman Going Global-Tanya Bell The Lower Quadrant André van der Merwe Various Psychology Modules- South African College of Applied Psychology Advanced Canine Physiotherapy – Laurie Edge-Hugh’s. Equine Rehabilitation Institute of Florida, USA. Equine Theory. Animal Physiotherapy Group of SA Level 2 qualification course. Dr Ad Warmerdam- Manual therapy techniques Elizabeth Whiter Zoopharmacognancy and Animal Healing. Milyn believes it is essential when treating a horse to assess all possible problems from teeth, to feet, to nutrition etc. and not just the symptoms complained of.
